Real Madrid star's recovery going 'slowly'

Real Madrid star David Alaba suffered a terrible injury last January when he went down with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which ruled him out of the Euros. That will seem like a lifetime ago for many, but it's still a bit of a recovery.

Despite the initial diagnoses that place Alaba for a return in October or November, Brand say that while his rehabilitation is going well, the injury has proven more difficult to overcome than I would have hoped, and the process is going slowly. The 32-year-old also touched the ball eight months later.

Los Blancos look set to move forward without signing a centre-back, despite Alaba's injury, Nacho Fernandez's exit and their pursuit of Leny Yoro. That paid dividends last year, but the manager of Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti called for reinforcements. Part of that decision likely depends on Alaba's recovery, but there has been no sign of movement yet.
