Borussia Dortmund confirmed the signing of Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart for €18m last month, but the Guinean forward could now be sidelined for longer than originally expected.

During the player’s medical, Guirassy was diagnosed with a knee injury and would be sidelined until the beginning of September but, as reported by Bild, the 28-year-old will need longer to recover. Pictured in a splint at Borussia Dortmund‘s Bad Ragaz training camp, Guirassy is likely to miss BVB’s first four league games: Eintracht Frankfurt, Werder Bremen, Heidenheim and Stuttgart, and could be sidelined until the beginning of October.

It’s a less than ideal situation for Borussia Dortmund, who sold Niclas Füllkrug to West Ham for €30m. Youssoufa Moukoko’s situation remains unclear, and they still have Sébastien Haller on their books. Die Schwarzgelben are however working on a deal to sign Hoffenheim forward Maximilian Beier, beating several Premier League clubs to sign the German.
