Real Sociedade ruled out losing Martin Zubimendi, Euro 2024 winner 'very attracted' to Liverpool move
Real Sociedade have already lost Robin Le Normand this summer, and with Mikel Merino already on the exit ramp, they could lose another key midfielder: Martin Zubimendi. The 25-year-old is being pursued by Liverpoolwho is said to have already initiated contacts with the Basque club.
Zubimendi rejected the interest of Barcelona, Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the last 12-18 months, but those in La Real are beginning to accept that this time, the midfielder could be on his way. According to News from GipuzkoaClub officials are more resigned to Zubimendi leaving for Liverpool.
It is also reported that Liverpool are willing to pay Zubimendi's €60 million release clause – which is the only way a deal will happen, as La Real have no intention of negotiating. There is also a belief that the player himself is “very attracted” to the idea of playing in the Premier League with the Reds.
In recent years, Zubimendi has reaffirmed his commitment Real society on several occasions. However, with no Champions League football for the 2024-25 campaign, now might be the time to move – it's not set in stone yet, but there seems to be growing doubt in Donostia-San Sebastian.
