Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have completed the signing of Hoffenheim and Germany striker Maximilian Beier.

The 21-year-old joins for €29m plus €2m in add-ons, reports Sky Germany and signs a contract at the Signal Iduna Park until 2029. Hoffenheim also has a sell-on clause in the agreement. Beier will replace Niclas Füllkrug who last week joined West Ham for €30m after only a season at the club.

On moving to Dortmund, Beier said:

“I am really looking forward to this next, big step in my career. In the conversations with Borussia Dortmund, I felt from the first minute how much they wanted me and I immediately had a great feeling. I am proud to be able to play for one of the best teams in Europe from now on and am extremely motivated to get started and bring joy to the fans. The goals of the association and mine are the same: We want to win titles. I will give everything for it.”

Last season, the striker scored 16 goals in his first full Bundesliga season helping Hoffenheim qualify for the Europa League, while on a personal level, he played his way into Germany’s squad for EURO 2024.

This is Dortmund’s fifth transfer of the summer as they continue to overhaul their squad under new head coach Nuri Sahin. Beier joins likely strike partner Serhou Guirassy (VfB Stuttgart), German national team teammates Waldemar Anton (Stuttgart) and Pascal Groß (Brighton) as well as right-back Yan Couto (Man City).

Dortmund are still likely to be busy in the transfer market this summer with players not only leaving the club but left-back could be a position they look to strengthen.
