Aston Villa confirm £15m signing of Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough – with Man City taking home 25 per cent of the fee due to sell-on clause
Aston Villa have confirmed the arrival of midfielder Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough.
The England youth international had been the subject of a number of bids from the Premier League side throughout January, with the two clubs finally agreeing a fee of £15million earlier this week.
Unai Emery‘s side announced the news on Deadline Day, with the midfielder taking the No 27 shirt.
The club revealed they were ‘delighted’ at the arrival of the ‘exciting young talent’ after 33 appearances so far for 2023-24.
Rogers joined Middlesbrough last summer but has impressed for the Championship side this season with seven goals and nine assists so far this term, scoring against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

As a result of the deal to sell Rogers to Boro, former club Manchester City are set to pocket some 25 per cent of the fee due to a sell-on clause.
Morgan had only joined Boro in the summer but has thrived under boss Michael Carrick.
Middlesbrough rejected Villa’s first three proposals, but Emery is a huge fan of Rogers, who was impressive whilst playing against the Premier League side in the FA Cup at the start of January.
The midfielder came through the ranks at local rivals West Brom, before spells at Lincoln, Blackpool, Bournemouth and Man City.
A statement on Boro’s official website said: ‘Morgan has been with the club just six months since joining from Manchester City. The former West Brom Academy graduate departs with the best wishes of all at MFC.’
