Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz has joined Adidas, which from now on will be his main sports brand.
The 24-year-old has signed a lucrative long-term contract with the German sportswear company.
Adidas has beaten off competition from other companies to sign the former Manchester City and AC Milan player, who had been with Nike for his entire career.
Diaz will train today for the first time in an Adidas boot model.
Nike managed to renew its deal with Vinicius Junior until 2030 at the end of November, after there had previously been issues between both parties. Before then, they had also lost Real defender Antonio Rudiger, who instead committed to Under Armour.
Diaz was Real’s only goalscorer in Sunday’s derby at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Carlo Ancelotti’s side drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid in La Liga. The attacker was not expected to start, but Vinicius Jr’s cervical discomfort in the warm-up gave him the opportunity and he made the most of it.
Diaz has seven goals and three assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this season, which means he is involved in a goal on average every 106.7 minutes.
He is getting closer to a call-up to the Spanish national team. Luis de la Fuente’s next match is in March and, although Morocco continue to insist on convincing Diaz to play for them, his priority is Spain.
