Brazilian police have reportedly dropped the domestic abuse investigation against Antony due to lack of evidence.

Two more women subsequently came forward with similar allegations, although one of them later dropped her case.

This led Antonio to give a Tearful interview on live television where he stressed that there was no truth to the accusations.

An emotional Antonio said: “It's something that doesn't cross my mind.

“I know the truth and it will come out. I know there are many people who are massacring me, but the truth will come out.”

Antony, who has spoken to Greater Manchester Police to discuss the allegations, took a “period of absence” at the start of last season.

His special absence caused him to miss three Premier League games in the 2023/24 campaign.

But according to a Brazilian media outlet Globo.comHe has now been acquitted after police found insufficient evidence of any wrongdoing.

Following a year-long investigation, the Public Security Secretariat told Brazilian media: “The case was processed confidentially.

“More information should be requested from the courts.”
