Liverpool Valencia are 'close' to reaching an agreement to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili this summer, according to Fabricius Romano.

The Georgia international has been linked with the Reds for the past month and has reportedly already agreed personal terms for a move to Anfield.

The Merseyside club are now “close” to reaching a full agreement with Roman reporting that the signing of the 23-year-old is progressing towards the 'final stages'.

Quoting a Georgian media outlet Geo Team, Roman Mamardashvili is reported to be staying at Valencia on loan for the remainder of the season, ending speculation of a move to Bournemouth.

Football transfer The expert adds that Liverpool and Valencia are in talks to reach an agreement worth a minimum of €30m (£25m) plus add-ons.

Liverpool are looking to consolidate their goalkeeping squad for at least the next decade. With Alisson Becker turning 32 in October, it makes sense for the Reds to go for a young back-up keeper who will take over the number one position when Alisson leaves the club.

Although Alisson still has three years left on his contract at Anfield, he continues to be linked with a possible move to Saudi Arabia and Liverpool appear to want Mamardashvili as a replacement if the Brazilian leaves.

Mamardashvili has proven his abilities in La Liga and with the Georgian national team at the recently concluded European Championships, where his heroics guided his country to the last 16 in their first appearance in the competition.

Of the 39 goalkeepers who featured in La Liga last season, Mamardashvili's 108 saves put him sixth among the top goalkeepers in La Liga.

With Liverpool on the verge of signing the 23-year-old, it looks like Arne Slot is finally set to secure his first signing of the summer window.
