Earlier this week, Conor Gallagher's move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid was finally confirmed. The 24-year-old was unveiled alongside new team-mates Robin Le Normand, Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez at a packed Civitas Metropolitano on Wednesday, where he spoke of his pride to join the club.
Gallagher also spoke to Atleti's official media channels on Thursday. Ace for MDrevealed his goals for his time in the Spanish capital.
“I want to help the club as much as possible, obviously the goal is to win the title. Of course, I am here to win titles. It is a very big club that has already won many titles. I hope we can win a few more together” .
Gallagher becomes the first English player to play Atletico Madrid since Kieran Trippier, who left for Newcastle United. He revealed that he spoke to his international team-mate before making the move, and talks have also taken place with former Chelsea team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta.
“First, Kieran Trippier is a great player and an even better person. I spoke to him a lot about the club and what he thought. He told me only good things. How incredible the club is, the fans, the city and what m 'helped make the decision.
“I have a good relationship with Azpi. I spoke to him and he said only good things about the club and why he should come.”
