Fallout from the Nico Williams saga continues as Barcelona snubbed by Athletic Club officials
This summer, tensions between Barcelona and Athletic Club have risen to fever pitch due to the Nico Williams saga. The Catalans tried desperately to sign the 22-year-old winger, but their efforts ended in vain, as he will remain in Bilbao for at least another 12 months.

The athletic officials were not happy with the efforts of Barcelona, and the constant pressure of the media on Williams. They threatened to pursue legal action if the deal went ahead, and all this combined led to a bitter atmosphere between the two clubs before their meeting at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday night.
It is the tradition that the directors of the club meet for lunch before the match, but on this occasion, it will not be such an event. That's because Athletic rejected Barcelona's invitation, as reported by The Mail.
It is clear that relationships – especially from The Athletic Club point of view – they are at an all-time low, and they are not likely to improve soon. The same situation could also be next summer if Barcelona decides to rekindle his interest in Williams.
