Crystal Palace considering Eddie Nketiah signing after Nottingham Forest move fails

Crystal Palace are considering reviewing their interest in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, talkSPORT understands.

He Arsenal The striker is a target for the Eagles as they look to bolster their attacking ranks ahead of the Premier League season.

Arsenal were hoping to sell Nketiah to Nottingham Forest for around £30m, however that move fell through after failing to agree personal terms with the player.

It is understood that the Tricky Trees would prefer to sign Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

Marseille had also been in talks with the player, but that deal also fell through.

Nketiah is unwilling to take a £120,000-a-week pay cut at the Gunners, which has put off a number of potential suitors.

Crystal Palace's need for reinforcements comes after a summer in which they have lost several key players.

Joachim Andersen, Jordan Ayew and Michael Olise all left Selhurst Park this summer, meaning Oliver Glasner is keen to add quality to his ranks.

talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook revealed in June that Arsenal were seeking a fee of £50m.

But they have since been forced to lower their demands and the Gunners are now demanding a fee of between £30m and £35m.

But despite Nketiah's experience and quality, the former Crystal Palace owner Jordan I was surprised by the assessment.

“Ultimately, if you want to get £40m, you're better off asking for £50m,” he said. “But is £50m worth it? Pfft! You've got to be kidding, right?

“It's one thing to pay for something old, but this is… you're overdoing it a bit. He's not a £50m footballer, I mean, he's lucky to be a £30m footballer who earns £100,000 a week!”

Nketiah has scored 38 goals in 168 appearances for Arsenal after coming through their academy.

He has also been capped once by England and is the all-time leading scorer for the Under-21s.
