Barcelona have been in talks with kit sponsor Nike for several months over a potential new 10-year contract with improved terms, despite having four years left on their current deal. Barcelona informed La Liga that the deal could be reached before the transfer window.

Both Sport and MD report that the documents have been sent to the League to be reviewed and verified in case the deal goes through. While there is no certainty like this, most reports say that Barcelona he could earn around €90 million a year with a signing bonus of between €115 million and €150 million. If La Liga ratified an agreement, it could add a significant amount to Barcelona's salary cap, thus allowing them to move into the final days of the transfer window. It could also see them fall back into their salary cap, and be able to move without League restrictions.

Most fans will be understood to take these reports with a pinch of salt, as many times in the past it has been reported that a deal with Nike is imminent. If the Blaugrana can seal an agreement with Nike, it could have a dramatic impact on their season and allow them to fill some gaps in their team, but equally, the options on the market are diminished.
