Sky Germany reports that Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels is set to join Scottish Premiership side Celtic to replace Matt O’Riley who joined Brighton earlier in the window.
An agreement was reached between Augsburg and Celtic that sees Engels move to Celtic Park for a fee of around €13m as well as a 20% sell-on clause for the Bavarian side. The Belgian will have his medical on Friday.
Engels joined Augsburg in 2022 from the Club Brugge NXT academy and has been a solid option in midfield for the club playing 32 games for the side last season not only in central midfield but also on the wing and at right-back.
Augsburg have several players that can replace the 20-year-old, most notably academy graduate Mert Kömur who featured more for the side at the end of last season where he even scored against Bayer Leverkusen on the final day of the season.
