Speaking to Sport Bildnow LA Galaxy forward Marco Reus gave clarification on his relationship with previous Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic

The relationship between Terzic and Reus had been said to be strained and the former head coach was one of the reasons behind Reus’s departure from the Signal Iduna Park in the summer. It had even been said that Reus was part of an uprising against the former head coach

On if he was part of this rebel group, Reus said:

“I’ve already made that clear: That’s simply not true. We are still in contact and have always had an open relationship over the last few years. You don’t always have to agree, you don’t always have to be best friends. But you have to speak the same language. And that’s what we did.”

However, Reus still showed doubt about Terzic and was a part of the group that wanted to hire additional assistant coaches, who turned out to be Sven Bender and now head coach Nuri Sahin. On this decision, Reus said:

“I was on the team council, and that is responsible for addressing things. We were all very unhappy with the situation. And that’s why I tried to speak up in the interests of the club about how we could improve. I had been at the club for so long that I saw it as my duty to speak up and push things forward. That had nothing to do with Edin, it was nothing against him. It was a new impetus to make us more successful overall.”

Reus’s final game for Dortmund was a 2-0 loss in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. The loss in London also spelt the end of Terzic’s tenure as Dortmund’s manager. Reus then proceeded to move the MLS and join La Galaxy where in two games against Atlanta United and St Louis City he has one goal and one assist.
