Paul Scholes sees great concern after seeing Arne Slot at Old Trafford for Manchester United vs Liverpool
Paul Scholes believes Arne Slot is not a fan of Trent Alexander-Arnold after seeing the Liverpool manager up close.
He Man United The legend was present at the Premier League clash before the international break, a match that Slot's team Won 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Alexander-Arnold started the match and lasted 75 minutes before being replaced, the third time in three games that he was replaced by the new Liverpool boss.
According to Scholes, there could be a reason why the technically talented star has yet to finish a game for the Reds.
Speech Stay with footballScholes said: “Watching the game on Sunday, every time he lost the ball he (Slot) shook his head.
“I was down there. He looked away and turned back to his bench.
“He was trying to hit long balls, which he obviously does very well. I thought, 'I'm not sure he likes that.'”
Carragher He added: “I think the way Slot wants to play, he doesn't like playing those long balls so much. He will want him to stay as a player.”
Alexander-Arnold's future at the club is under real scrutiny as his contract with the club is now in its final year.
With no new deal currently under discussion, a big question mark remains over the star's future at Anfield, with the prospect of a Liverpool exit now a distinct possibility.
If Alexander-Arnold leaves the club next summer, Carragher believes his departure would be received differently to the situations with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
“I think his situation at Liverpool is really interesting,” Carragher said.
“I always feel that in Liverpool and being a local player, leaving the club is difficult.
“You have three players: (Mohamed) Salah, (Virgil) van Dijk and Trent. I think the reaction of Liverpool fans to Trent will be different.
“If you go through there – (Steve) McManaman, (Steven) Gerrard, the fans went completely out of their way.
“I think they'll treat him differently and it was interesting in the first game when he came off and looked a bit unhappy on the bench.
“Even though I'd only been there for two games, it was a little bit like, 'Who do you think you are?'”
Since graduating from Liverpool's academy, Alexander-Arnold has made 313 appearances for the Reds.
He has also played a key role in Liverpool's recent Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League glory.
There seems to be no bad blood between the pair behind the scenes at Melwood.
Liverpool posted a video of the pair hugging at the training ground.
