Aaron Ramsdale reveals the dream ambition he has yet to achieve in his career that Alisson last achieved

Aaron Ramsdale has admitted he dreams of scoring a goal before he retires, despite the obvious problem with his position.

The 26-year-old The goalkeeper, who spent three seasons at Premier League giants Arsenal before a summer move to Southampton, explained his ambition on Hawksbee and Baker's talkSPORT show.

“I would love to, I would honestly love to,” he said when asked if scoring goals rather than stopping them is something he has ever thought about.

“I can't even say I was close, I was on a few corners and close to a header, but I wasn't even close when I watched the replay.

“But you dream about it, it's the only thing you dream about when you're a kid, even now I still dream about it. So I hope I can get one before I retire, it would be great to appear with one this season, wouldn't it?”

Baker said he will donate £100 for every goal he scores this season to the Willow Foundationa charity that creates experiences and treatments for seriously ill young adults and their loved ones.

Ramsdale has been a supporter of the Foundation and is now one of its ambassadors, telling Baker: “It sounds like a deal.”

If Ramsdale were to score in the Premier League, he would become only the seventh goalkeeper to do so.

Peter Schmeichel was the first in 2001 for Aston Villa when he scored a volley against Everton, and Brad Friedel scored for Blackburn Rovers three years later.

Paul Robinson, Tim Howard and Asmir Begovic scored for Tottenham, Everton and Stoke City respectively, all from long range.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is the latest player to make this unique list after scoring a late winner against West Brom in 2021.

Ramsdale is clearly interested in joining them, but will surely remain focused on matters related to his own goal for his new club.

He could be ready to make his second appearance for Southampton on Saturday when they host Manchester United, Live on talkSPORT.

During his Arsenal career, he kept 32 clean sheets in 89 appearances and has made five appearances for England in that time.

He joined from Bournemouth in 2020 for £30m and quickly cemented his place as the club's number one under his management. Mikel Arteta.

But the arrival of David Raya on a permanent deal in 2024 eventually led to Ramsdale looking for opportunities elsewhere, with Southampton luring him back to the south coast.

It's not as if he's guaranteed a starting place at St Mary's with Alex McCarthy and Gavin Buzunu challenging him.

However, early signs suggest Ramsdale has the nod, and United will be next.
