Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to accelerate their efforts to sign AC Milan star Noah Okafor in January, according to the Italian outlet. Milan live.
Having joined the Rossoneri from Red Bull Salzburg last summer, the 24-year-old struggled to find playing time at the San Siro last season. However, he enjoyed a promising start to this campaign by scoring in the Serie A opener against Torino, helping Paulo Fonseca avoid defeat in his debut as Milan's new manager.
After that, Okafor was awarded two consecutive starts against Parma and Lazio, but was unable to show his best form in either match.
So, Milan live claims that following the arrivals of Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata this summer, Okafor could now find himself very far down the pecking order, therefore the Italian giants are keen to cash in on him in January to get him off the wage bill.
According to the report, Tottenham are “on the trail” of the Swiss international and are willing to spend around £17m plus bonuses to sign him in January, with Ange Postecoglou keen to add reinforcements in attack. Milan could accept the proposal if Tottenham eventually submit it.
Okafor heads to Tottenham
The 24-year-old is a versatile player, as he can play in any position along the attacking line. He is quick, can dribble past opposing defenders in tight areas, has the ability to finish his chances and also works hard out of possession.
Okafor has the attributes to play in Postecoglou's high-pressing system and thrive in his career, so would be a smart acquisition for Tottenham if they buy him.
However, it will be interesting to see if the north London club ultimately opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature in the upcoming winter window.
Tottenham, meanwhile, will resume their league campaign after the international break when they face their arch-rivals. Arsenal At home this weekend.
After that, they face Coventry City in the EFL Cup next week before taking on Brentford in the Premier LeagueThe Postecoglou team will begin its Europa League campaign against Qarabag later this month.
