Michael Olise has settled into life in Bavaria rather well. The Frenchman completed a €53m move to Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace in July but representing his nation at the Olympic games, was integrated into the squad later than planned.

The 22-year-old has scored three and created one in five games across all competitions for Bayern and was on the receiving end of praise from Vincent Kompany.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference ahead of their game against Werder Bremen, Kompany said: “I didn’t think it was bad that he played at the Olympics. He came back very fit. He’s already playing a good role and will make many good steps. Now he should keep calm and keep it up.”

Sporting director Christoph Freund added: “He played very well at the Olympics.

“Of course, a lot is new for him. New club, country and culture. He was called up to the national team for the first time. A lot is happening around him at the moment, but we are very happy that things have started this way for Michael.”

Olise got off the mark in the Bundesliga last weekend, scoring Bayern Munich’s fifth in a rampant 6-1 win against newly promoted Holstein Kiel, and added to his tally with a brace against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
