'We've already made history' – Savio talks Girona and reveals Real Madrid star as idol ahead of La Liga title challenge

Girona's trip to Real Madrid is MD24's big match-up, and could be a pivotal match in the La Liga title race. The two teams are separated by just two points going into Saturday's game, with the Whites holding that slender advantage.

Ahead of the match, Girona winger Savio, who has been in excellent form this season, spoke to La Liga World to discuss his time at the club. He also admitted to being surprised by his teammates and coach Michel Sanchez upon his arrival in Catalonia.

“When I arrived here, I remember on my first day of training that I was surprised by all the players in the team, and also by the demanding nature of the coach. After the session, I told my family that these players they have a lot of quality.”

Savio also reiterated his belief that he and his Gerona teammates can defy the odds to win the League this season.

“Together we will make more history. We have already done it, but we must continue to win match by match.”

Finally, the 19-year-old also spoke about his football heroes growing up, and also revealed that a possible opposition player on Saturday is his idol.

“Ronaldinho was insanely good, he was a very talented player with the ball. Ronaldo Nazario too, although he was more of a scorer. My idol in the history of football is Real Madrid Rodrygo.”
