Sevilla breathe a sigh of relief as key striker's injury isn't as bad as first feared

Sevilla feared the worst when star striker Isaac Romero appeared to suffer a worrying ankle injury during Friday's defeat at Alaves. The 24-year-old was involved in a harmless incident, and there were fears he suffered a break.

However, this is not the case. It was confirmed (via AS Diary) that Romero's injury is not as bad as first feared. Rather than a broken ankle, he suffered a mild anterior syndesmosis sprain in his right ankle.

It is expected that Romero will have a short layoff due to the injury, rather than a 3-4 month absence, which would have been the case if he broke his ankle. Instead, it is more likely that he will be out for a week or two.

Seville will be pleased that they can soon count on the services of Romero. His absence for the next two games will also provide an opportunity for summer signing Kelechi Iheanacho.
