Speaking after VfB Stuttgart’s 5-1 win against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday evening (via kicker), striker Deniz Undav gave his thoughts on their performance.

Undav scored twice for Stuttgart, one right at the beginning of the game and one right at the end. On his first goal, the 28-year-old said:

“I somehow have the quality to get the ball on goal even if I don’t hit it well. The post helped me a little, but in the end a goal is a goal.”

Undav then added:

“We were superior in all situations and scored the goals at the right moments. Which pulled the plug on the game.”

Left-back Maximilian Mittelstädt also had a great game against Dortmund as he assisted Undav’s first goal as well as the second goal scored by Ermedin Demirovic. On the team’s performance, the Berlin native said:

“We played our game on the pitch, which we had planned to do and which we showed all last year. Then every opponent has a hard time because we simply have a very good positional game.”

Enzo Millot and El Bilal Touré were the other scorers for Stuttgart as they humiliated Dortmund, in a win that was even more impressive considering they went toe to toe with Real Madrid earlier in the week.

The game at the MHP Arena was hot from the start as Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy received a hostile reception from the home crowd after their departures in the summer. It then reached a new level after Undav’s early opener and after that Stuttgart did not look back as they ran riot against Dortmund.
