Barcelona are on the hunt for another goalkeeper following the long-term injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and after Claudio Bravo offered himself to his former club, a second retired goalkeeper is set to return to the game for a shot with the club Blaugrana
Ace for SportFormer Juventus, Arsenal and Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is set to join Barcelona, despite retiring in August. They say Barcelona have made contact with the 34-year-old to convince him of a move, and that he is their priority, ahead of the likes of Bravo or Keylor Navas.
Part of the reason is that Hansi Flick knows Szczesny well, having seen him in action for Arsenal, Roma, Juventus and Poland, and he likes him. His relationship with Robert Lewandowski is another factor in his favor, as the two are close friends, and he is much younger than Bravo (41) or Navas (37).
Last season Szczesny also kept 15 clean sheets, and conceded 30 goals in 35 games, the latter far from a stellar rate, but evidence that he can still perform at the highest level. In addition they also feel that Szczesny is better with his feet than the alternatives in the market as well.
