Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) reports that Arsenal are the next team to join the race for Bayer Leverkusen talisman Florian Wirtz as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Arsenal join a long list of suitors with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City all interested in a move for the 21-year-old. The North Londoners scouted Wirtz when he was at 1.FC Köln before his move to Leverkusen in 2020.

However, Wirtz wants to join a team that has a realistic chance of winning the Champions League and also gives him the opportunity to potentially win the Ballon d’Or. On top of this, Wirtz has a contract at Leverkusen until 2027 so he could stay at the BayArena for another year and Die Werkself are also demanding €150m for the 21 year old.

It has previously been reported that Real Madrid are the current favourites to land Wirtz next summer as his future may also be linked to the future of head coach Xabi Alonso. If the former midfielder moves to the Bernabeu in the summer then Wirtz could follow.

Wirtz has had a great start to the season as he has been central to everything Leverkusen have done on the attacking end which is seen with his six goals and one assist in seven games for the club.
