Iconic Premier League defender Chris Samba talks about the “worst” dressing room with “resentment” widespread in the team

Chris Samba has revealed which Premier League club had the “worst” dressing room of his career.

He former central He first played in the English top flight with Blackburn Rovers, for whom he made 161 league appearances between 2007 and 2012.

After a brief spell in Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala, Samba returned to the Premier League signing for Queens Park Ranger.

However, despite the quality that the then manager Harry Redknapp had at his disposal, QPR were relegated from the Premier League.

Samba appeared just ten times for the clubs but has revealed that the Loftus Road dressing room is at the end of his career.

“I think the structured salaries weren't really good. You know, you have a player earning £10,000 (per week) playing with another player earning £50,000 (per week), you have a player earning £20,000 (per week). playing with someone earning £100,000 (per week).

“So, it's a little bit of resentment, you know, if that player plays better than the one who makes more money that day, it feels some way.”

“I think the way the team was built was really our downfall.”

QPR began the 2012/13 season with Mark Hughes in charge, but he was sacked after failing to record a win in their first 12 league games.

Redknapp replaced him and sealed their first victory on 15 December when they beat west London rivals Fulham 2-1 at home.

However, only three more wins followed and QPR finished last in the Premier League with 25 points, losing 21 of their 38 games.

Luckily for the Hoops, they sealed an instant return to the top flight by winning the Championship play-offs, although they were relegated again the following season and have not been promoted since.

Samba left the club after their first relegation in 2013 and returned to Anzhi Makhachkala before spells with Dynamo Moscow and Panathinaikos.

The defender returned to England in 2017 when he signed for Aston Villa in the Championship, making 14 appearances for the club.
