“My contract ends” – Joan Laporta's preference for Barcelona opens the door to a summer move
Barcelona are on the hunt for a new manager, but a large part of their search may depend more on who is available this summer. The Blaugrana does not have a large budget with which to tempt managers or pay their current clubs, immediately giving those coaches without a contract an advantage. One of them is Julian Nagelsmann.
The last one from Barcelona is that president Joan Laporta prefers a manager from the German coaching system, referring to Thomas Tuchel, Hansi Flick, Jurgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann. The manager of Bayern Munich, Tuchel, distanced himself from the speculation, while Klopp seems to be unavailable.
It is not the case for Julian Nagelsmann. The current Germany manager was asked about his future beyond the Euros this summer, which is being prepared today, and he made it clear that there was no guarantee he would be there after the tournament.

Nagelsmann would be a high-profile option for Barcelona, but he tends to have short stints at his clubs. Despite successful spells at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, his time at Bayern has seen him struggle to handle the pressure, although he will obviously be wiser for the experience. It would also be far from an ideal start to his career here if he were to resume, since he would have arrived late in the preseason potentially, and would not be able to fully concentrate on planning the summer with the Director Sporting Deco.
