Germany squad for October international break announced

The squad for Germany’s October international break fixtures against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands has been announced.

Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst is the only player in the squad to receive his first call up to the squad. The 29-year-old replaces Niclas Füllkrug who is currently suffering from an Achilles injury. Kleindienst has been rewarded for his form not only with Heidenheim last season but how he has started this season with Gladbach.

Antonio Rüdiger returns to the squad after having a break in the September international break. Serge Gnabry and Janis Blaswich have also been recalled. Blaswich has yet to make an appearance for the national team but was included as third choice a year ago.

Gnabry also returns to the squad after a year away, which is a credit to how he has started the season under new head coach Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich.

Germany has two Nations League games in October, the first sees them travel to Sarajevo to face Bosnia before they then host the Netherlands in Munich.
