Bissouma delivers dominant midfield display against Ferencvaros

Tottenham Hotspur maintained its 100% record in the european league with a 2-1 win over Ferencvaros away from home on Thursday night.

Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou made 7 changes to the starting eleven from 3-0 first division win in manchester united. The Australian chose 4 teenagers, including Will Lankshear, who made his competitive debut.

Despite this, Tottenham played a relatively comfortable game away from home. His dominance in midfield was a highlight and much praise should go to Yves Bissouma who had a stellar night at the Groupama Arena in Hungary.

The 28-year-old has been inconsistent with his performances at Spurs, but showed his class against Ferencvaros, winning 11 of 15 duels contested. He also made 9 recoveries with 100% of his serves won.

The Malian star also made 3 interceptions with 2 clearances and completed 89% of his passes.

It was a memorable evening for the former Brighton & Hove Albion player. It may not be enough to break into the starting XI against his former employers this weekend, but Bissouma could get some useful minutes off the bench.

Bissouma's consistency has been a cause of concern during his time in the English capital. On his day, he is unstoppable and it is up to him to put in standout performances regularly to earn the coach's trust.

Spurs have found form with 5 consecutive wins in all competitions. Brennan Johnson has been a revelation with 5 goals in as many games. The Welshman scored the winning goal yesterday in the 86th minute.

Postecoglou is expected to again use the same lineup that beat United when his team travels to the south coast on Sunday. The Spurs are 3 points behind champions league places and have the opportunity to close the gap with another victory.

The October international break may have come at the wrong time for Spurs, who appear to be peaking under Postecoglou.
