“He really learned from last season's game and from the international experience. There was a lot of pressure on him at that time.

Gordon has been playing as a centre-forward for Newcastle of late amid injuries to Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.

They have scored crucial equalizers in 1-1 draws against Bournemouth and Manchester City so far this season, and the Magpies are now winless in the Premier League in three games.

Newcastle are still just one point off the European qualification places, but Everton will be much happier with the draw.

Sean Dyche's side, who claimed their first league win of the season last weekend, are four points clear of the relegation zone.
