Current Premier League manager on Manchester United's three-man shortlist to replace under-pressure Erik ten Hag

Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank have admirers on the Manchester United board, talkSPORT understands.

Tuchel and the Brentford boss Franc are among the potential candidates if United decides to separate from the pressure Erik ten Hag.

The Premier League giants are holding pre-planned summit meetings over the next 48 hours, with Ten Hag's future expected to be high on the agenda.

When asked about speculation about his future, Ten Hag said: “I mean, maybe you can think it's unfair. Some bring criticism, but in the club we are together.

“We know the process, where we are going. We made the decision only because the owners, the leadership, the staff, the players, they are all together.

“We are in this process and we continue to improve this process and we are convinced that in the end we will be successful.”

If United were to part ways with Ten Hag and appoint Tuchel, the German would return to management after his departure from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Tuchel has a history of success in Europe thanks to two Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain, a Champions League victory at Chelsea and a Bundesliga triumph with Bayern, among other honors.

Brentford boss Frank has been one of the Premier League's most impressive head coaches in recent seasons, having successfully kept them in the top flight since their promotion in 2021.

The Dane was linked with the Chelsea vacancy in the summer after they mutually parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino, although Enzo Maresca was his eventual replacement.

Former England manager Southgate was a speculated option for United before leading the Three Lions to Euro 2024.

Despite this, he remained focused on the task ahead with his country while said in May: “Well, for me it's not a problem and it never has been.

“I have to deliver a successful tournament for England and there is enough work involved in that. I think everyone would expect that that is where my focus should be.”

Southgate left the England job just two days after their 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
