'I wouldn't be surprised' – Real Madrid backed to make club record bid for Chelsea superstar

Real Madrid's transfer policy in recent years has seen them target younger, less established players. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Junior all came in as big money signings, but true to the faith they have shown, they have improved significantly during their time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid is ready to spend big when necessary, and for someone like Cole Palmer – who could be an option in 2025 if Rodrygo Goes leaves – they will have to pay a mammoth amount. However, Liverpool legend Graeme Souness admitted (via Caught Offside) which could see Los Blancos launch an assault for the Chelsea superstar.

“I'm sure there are other players who could have earned it. Chelsea paid £40 million for Palmer, but if Real Madrid come knocking next summer and he's still at the level he's showing, I wouldn't be surprised if they had an offer of 150 million pounds for him.

There is no doubt that Palmer will improve Real Madrid team, but it would be hard to see them making a serious effort to sign him anytime soon. Even if Rodrygo leaves, they have a ready replacement in Arda Guler.
