Harry Maguire offers injury update and reveals recovery timeframe after being forced off at half-time in Man United’s draw with Aston Villa
Harry Maguire will be sidelined for ‘a few weeks’ with the injury he picked up on Sunday.
The Manchester United defender had to be helped off the pitch late on in the first half of Sunday’s draw against Aston Villa.
Writing on his Instagram story, Maguire said: ‘Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I’ll come back stronger.’
The 31-year-old made only his third Premier League start of the season against Villa after coming off the bench in the Europa League clash with Porto last week and scoring a last-minute equaliser.
Maguire was left out of England boss Lee Carsley‘s squad for the Nations League matches against Greece and Finland this week.

Maguire was in severe pain clutching his calf and could reportedly be out for four weeks
Kobbie Mainoo was set to be United’s only England representative but he has withdrawn, while Alejandro Garnacho and Noussair Mazraoui will sit out Argentina and Morocco duty respectively.
Maguire went down holding his calf in stoppage-time of the first half at Villa Park on Sunday and had to be replaced by Matthijs de Ligt after the break.
Concerns over the gravity of the damage Maguire sustained intensified when he was recorded leaving Birmingham in a protective boot.
And now The Mirror are reporting that the England centre-back will be on the sidelines for four weeks.
It means under pressure Erik ten Hag will likely turn to De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez to form a partnership once more after dropping them for the clash against Villa.

If the predicted timeframe of recovery is correct, Maguire will be unavailable for four Premier League matches, which includes the visit of Chelsea to Old Trafford.
The defender could also miss a trip to Fenerbahce, who are managed by former United manager Jose Mourinho, in the Europa League.
