England are looking to get three wins in a row after Carsleyappointment on an interim basis.

But if the former Everton midfielder backs up what he said in his press conference last week after the announcement of his teamcould name a bold and renewed XI.

Carsley surprised when he stated that the Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer could help solve England's left-back problem.

When asked if Trent Alexander-Arnold play there, Carsley then claimed that two of England's best attacking players could do a job there.

He said: “Yes, he (Alexander-Arnold) can play there.

“Bukayo (Saka) can play there, Cole can play there, so there are quite a few. Obviously you want to get the best out of them in their most natural positions.

“We know that if we play with a right-footed player there, as a left-back, we will have to build differently and be creative in the way we set up.”

Carsley's vision it didn't go down well with talkSPORT co-host Alan Brazil, while Arsenal Invincible's Ray Parlor urged the 50-year-old to start Palmer in an advanced role.

And there are still questions about the captain harry kane fitnesswho suffered a small blow with Bayern Munich on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ezri Konsa, Kobbie Mainoo and Morgan Gibbs-White have all withdrawn from the team due to their own injury problems.

Here talkSPORT.com takes a look at how England could cope with Greece in Kane's potential absence, with a major change in defence.

The starter between the sticks will probably be Jordan Pickford, fresh from his heroic sorrows of Everton by saving the penalty taken by Anthony Gordon in the 0-0 draw against Newcastle.

Trent Alexander-Arnold could fill the right-back spot in a 4-2-3-1 formation, despite Kyle Walker's return to international duty.

The Liverpool player started Carsley's first two games in charge of England last month against Ireland and Finland.

With Konsa injured and Harry Maguire omitted, a centre-back pairing could be John Stones and Marc Guehi.

The two played together for England at Euro 2024, which included the 2-1 final loss to Spain.

And if Carsley stays true to his pre-match words, he could incredibly deploy Palmer at left-back.

If he did, it would be the first time the 22-year-old, who has 11 goals in seven Premier League games this season, has played in that position in his senior career.

Moving into midfield, Carsley could opt for a double pivot of Declan Rice and Angel Gomes.

The pair were Carsley's preferred option in England's final match in September – a 2-0 win against Finland.

With Judas Bellingham Back available after his leg injury, he could start in the number 10 spot ahead of Phil Foden.

Palmer has dazzled in his seven top-flight appearances this season, and would be a waste at left-back.

Standing out on the right wing would be Bukayo Sakawho is one goal away from becoming Arsenal's all-time top scorer with England with 13 goals.

Gordon could then slot in on the opposite flank ahead of Jack Grealish, with the Magpies striker awaiting his first international goal.

And if Carsley opts to rest Kane, Ollie Watkins could be chosen to lead the line in place of Dominic Solanke.
