What's the latest on Manchester City's FFP case? Sean Dyche asks why Everton were punished before the clash
Manchester City will look to reach the top of the Premier League when they host Everton despite their 115 FFP still looming over their heads.
The last game of the three-time defending champion is particularly moving, with the Toffees already punished for failing to comply with the Profit and Sustainability regulations.
talkSPORT understands Everton will find out if their appeal against their ten-point deduction is successful in Half of February.
The Merseysiders could have more points deducted for a different breach and the fans have already been protesting the club's treatment.
Tony Bellew launched a furious tirade on the Premier League live on talkSPORT and the Everton boss Sean Dyche has admitted that there is general confusion over why the city's extensive allegations have not been addressed.
“Like everyone else, we all wonder what makes one rule for one and another rule for another. “I think that’s the only thing,” Dyche said.
“I don't know the ins and outs of each reason, but I think we all wonder. People on the street ask: “Why is it especially Everton?'
“I don't know the exact number, but they refer to more than 100 charges (for the City). I don't know the implications of that either. I don't know the details of the charges but you say, 'Well, we have one.'
“You just have to use common sense, I'm not talking about the rules. I'm not questioning Man City or whether or not they've done things. The thing is, it certainly is a long time. That story has been circulating for some time about all of these charges. “I don't know the variants of what the charges are.”

What's the latest on Manchester City's FFP case?
In February 2023, City were accused of violating 115 Financial Fair Play rules over an eight-year period.
His alleged breaches coincided with the club's rise to the dominant force in English football from the 2010/11 and 2017/18 seasons.
There had been talk that City could be stripped of their Premier League titles during this period (having won the league in 2012, 2014 and 2018), while Stefan Borson, former City financial advisor The clear possibility of relegation was even raised if they are found guilty.
City denied the extensive offenses and said in a statement that “we hope this matter will be resolved once and for all.”
However, more than a year later, in the context of Everton's punishment, there is still no public date for the hearing on City's accusations.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters confirmed in January 2024 that a date is set, but stopped short of revealing when it will be.

Why is Everton's case different?
In short, the Manchester City case is much more complex and requires more time.
Everton's first charge for exceeding the PSR was a one-off breach in 2021-22, in which the club also cooperated and complied with the Premier League during the proceedings.
By contrast, City have received 115 charges across multiple financial cycles.
Not only would that require a lot more paperwork, but the City is also actively fighting each violation, meaning a potential verdict could take a year.
