Aston Villa Academy player Kamsi Nwachukwu has been nominated as a Premier League No Room For Racism champion by club staff.
Every Premier League club was invited to nominate somebody from a Black, Asian or other minority ethnic background whose story helps demonstrate the importance and strength in diversity within football and wider society to celebrate as part of this year’s No Room For Racism activities, and Kamsi was chosen by Academy staff.
Kamsi, who plays for Villa’s Under-13s, wrote a poem championing diversity for National Poetry Day last year.
The poem was published in the club’s matchday programme against Fulham last season as part of our Black History Month celebrations.
Steven Moore, Player Care Manager at Villa said: “Kamsi wrote a wonderful poem that encapsulated how he felt about diversity and became our Under-12 representative.
“The Player Care team were touched by Kamsi’s poem and felt he deserved Academy recognition.”

Diversity Poem
You don’t have to look too far to see,
Someone who’s very different to you and me.
They could be African, Asian, black or white,
Diversity is something in which we all unite.
Regardless of skin colour, age or race,
Your background is something that you should embrace.
And if you look real close, I think you’d see,
That there is no difference between you and me.
So, wherever you come from, far or wide,
Diversity is a badge that you should wear with pride.
Black History Month
Aston Villa is unwavering in our support for Black History Month and the Premier League’s No Room For Racism campaign.
All top-flight matches between 19-27 October will be dedicated to the initiative, with our home game against Bournemouth allowing the club to showcase our equality work.
This year’s Black History Month theme centres around reclaiming narratives, with a focus on uncovering, honouring and sharing stories of Black history and culture.
We will be sharing a number of pieces throughout October from players, coaches and staff in line with these values.
