I played with the former Bayern Munich and Fulham coach, who punished the players “horribly.”

Darren Bent has recalled the punishment that made Felix Magath 'lose the dressing room' at Fulham.

Bent signed by the peasants on a season-long loan from Premier League rivals Aston Villa ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

Magath, formerly of Bayern MunichHe was appointed manager in February when relegation to the Championship emerged as a real possibility.

However, he was unable to help secure Fulham's top-flight status and bowed out at the start of the following season with just four wins out of 20.

Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, co-host Bent was asked about the worst individual or team punishment he faced during his career.

And it was one of Magath's disciplinary methods during his time at Fulham that landed him the number one spot.

“Worst punishment I've ever had… I mean, Magath's were bad, some of them,” Bent revealed.

“There was one, standing on the pitch, there were even some where he made you come in on a Sunday, which wasn't a problem, but you played 90 minutes on Saturday.

“And if you didn't play well, he would come in with the ball and say, 'Ah,' and he would show us the ball and say, 'Ah.' Once we went out to practice, he would say, 'Ah, we're not going to use this today. No.' you wanted to play soccer yesterday, so you won't use it today.

“And he'd blow the whistle and just say, 'Run,' with the fitness guy, and it was called 'fartleks.' It's like a jogging stride, that's what a fartlek is, you know what I mean?”

“So he blew the whistle and we had to move fast. He'd blow the whistle, we'd slow it down, we'd jog for as long as he wanted, he'd blow it again and we'd do it for an hour.

“Senior players like Scott Parker, Brede Hangeland, Steve Sidwell, myself, all the senior players, John Arne Riise, these guys (played) 90 minutes on Saturday and we had to come and do that. Honestly, horrible.”

“I guess those players would think, 'I'm not playing for him,'” his co-host Andy Goldstein said, and Bent responded, “100 percent.

“He lost the locker room, we went down, we lost the locker room.”

Magath left Fulham in September 2014 after losing six of his first seven games in the Championship.

He then managed Chinese side Shandong Taishan FC before a brief spell at Hertha Berlin in Germany.

Despite his difficulties at Fulham, Magath won two Bundesliga titles with Bayern and another with Wolfsburg, managing a total of 11 different clubs.
