Former Sevilla and France striker Wissam Ben Yedder apologized to the victim, after hearing the process for an alleged violation. The 34-year-old former AS Monaco forward is awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for November 12.

The prosecution is seeking a sentence of two and a half years in prison if found guilty, while Ben Yedder's defense is centered on alcoholism. They told the story of Ben Yedder who was deceived by his agent, defrauded out of money, and then subjected to a separation from his wife, which led him to drink. “I am a lonely person, who struggles to trust people, and I sought refuge in alcohol,” he told the court, as for Marco.

Ben Yedder also apologized to the victim, who the prosecution said was “treated like a piece of meat”.

“I don't remember anything, I can't say if I did it. It's because of the alcohol that I'm here. I sincerely apologize to the victim, to his family, to my family.”

“Alcohol made me forget, it helped me stop thinking… I realized it was the worst mistake of my life,” explained Ben Yedder.

Now without a team, Ben Yedder has no intention of retiring, although it seems likely that the sentence will dictate his ability to do so. The French international spent three years at Seville between 2016 and 2019, and has been in Monaco for the past five years.
