Why don't Arsenal have their club crest on their kits this season?
The first thing to say is that this is not a permanent change and the badge will be back on Arsenal's kits next season.
However, the club and Adidas appreciate the symbolism of some of the old badges and crests.
Therefore, after the success of testing the cannon on the black away shirt for the 2022/23 season, they decided to use it on all their kits this year.
This is not unusual for clubs, with more and more retro badges appearing on various uniforms in the division.
However, it's a bit strange to see the same thing on a home shirt rather than an away or third shirt.
This is the first time since the 1989/90 season that Arsenal have used only the cannon instead of their usual insignia.
However, even then, it had 'AFC' written right above it, so you have to go back to the 1970s to find the last time the Gunners only used the cannon and nothing else on the home kit.

Despite this season's change, the cannon is not here to stay.
Arsenal's crest is one of the most visually striking in the Premier League, so it would be a shame if they decided to get rid of it.
And as things stand, there are no plans for the Gunners to do that for a number of reasons.
One is that Arsenal's current crest has been the club's crest since 2002 and has a deep connection with the fans.
The year of the Invincibles came with Arsenal wearing this badge, and there were plenty of memorable Arsene Wenger moments too.
Therefore, abandoning that story probably wouldn't sit well with Gunners fans.
Meanwhile, to make a permanent change, FA guidelines state that clubs must undertake a formal consultation process with fans.
Clubs can't just decide to change their badges forever without some form of fan approval.
Therefore, it is unlikely that this permanent redesign of the shield will ever happen.
