Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson believes the club already has Pep Guardiola's replacement “in mind.”

Serial winner Guardiola is rumored to be leaving Manchester City at the end of his contract next summer, potentially bringing to a close his eight years at the club.

Ederson has been at Etihad since 2017, but his current contract expires in just under two years, in June 2026.

Asked about the sun If his future depended on who came next, he said: “Not at all. Today City is a very well structured club, well managed, great managers, a great CEO.

“I think the club already has the next coach in mind and the day Pep decides to leave they will try to follow the same line of work.”

Guardiola has won an incredible six Premier League titles with Manchester City, a feat only surpassed by Sir Alex Fergusonwho won 13 with manchester united.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager also led City to their first Champions League trophy to complete their treble season in 2023.

The former Barcelona midfielder also won two FA Cups and four League Cups during his tenure.

But while Ederson acknowledges that his boss' possible departure will be a big loss, he knows the board will not rest on its laurels when it comes to finding a successor.

“Of course it would be a big loss,” he said. “We are talking about the best coach in the world.

“But I see a club very well prepared for the post-Pep era.”

According to The Sun report, Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim is a good candidate to take over.

This follows the announcement that his close friend Hugo Viana will move to City as director of football in the summer.

Current sports director Txiki Begiristain will go the Manchester club at the end of the season.

City are among those impressed by Xabi Alonso, who refused to take the job Liverpool after the departure of Jurgen Klopp and the work he has done at Bayer Leverkusen.
