Erling Haaland has Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott on points after Manchester City injury admission
Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott couldn't help but laugh after Erling Haaland's honest assessment of his recent injury.
The Norwegian superstar was on target again on Saturday as he scored both of Manchester City's goals in his 2-0 victory about Everton.
Haaland found the target for the first time since November, after returning from a foot injury that saw him miss ten games in all competitions.
It was key for from the city The Premier League title last season and will be a key difference for them once again in the coming months.
The striker's return after a long period out is a welcome sight for his team and he revealed his true feelings about the setback after the victory.
TNT Sports Expert Fernando talked about his City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne and how he said he needed a rest while recovering from his hamstring injury.
But when Haaland was asked if he enjoyed a period out due to injury, it was a source of laughter for Ferdinand and lescottas he said: “No, it was horrible.
“I don't really like it. But, again, it makes you appreciate daily training more.
“I appreciate getting together for games, being a little nervous before the game and all that kind of stuff.
“So it makes your mind think a little differently, now that I've just started training I appreciate it a lot more because I know what it's like without it. It makes you think, you know?”
City failed to get a shot on target against Everton in the first period, the first time they have done so at home since August 2022.
Their breakthrough finally came in the 71st minute when Haaland fired in from inside the area as the Toffees failed to clear a corner.
Five minutes from time he scored his second of the afternoon, after an excellent DeBruyne deep pass.
Haaland now has 16 Premier League goals to his name this campaign and leads the race for the Golden Boot.
