Ezri Konsa described Aston Villa’s 1-0 Champions League defeat away at Club Brugge as “a difficult night”.
Unai Emery’s side dropped points for the first time in this season’s competition courtesy of Hans Vanaken’s second-half penalty.
The England defender summed up a frustrating evening in Belgium, admitting the Jan Breydel Stadium proved a tough place to visit.
He said: “Away games are always difficult, especially when you come away from home to a different country, and you feel the atmosphere here like tonight.
“You have to stick together as a team. Throughout the game they created chances, but we did well to keep it at 0-0 for such a long period.
“I feel like we didn’t create enough chances. There’s not much I can really say. We lost the game and it’s just an unfortunate night.”
Having suffered a first setback in the Champions League, Konsa insists Villa must now dust themselves down quickly in order to find a response when visiting Liverpool in Premier League action this Saturday (ko 8pm).
“It’s part of football,” Konsa added.
“You win some, you lose some, and unfortunately tonight wasn’t our night.
“It’s our first loss in the Champions League, and we have to move on from it quickly.
“We’ve got another game on Saturday so we can’t be too down about it.
“In football, games come thick and fast. Like I said, we have to move on from this and focus on our next game.”
