Mauricio Pochettino tends to keep his cards quite reserved when it comes to talking about transfers. He is always able to deflect the question by saying that it is not his job and that the media should ask the sports directors, which, of course, they cannot.

So it was interesting to hear him open up a little bit yesterday. When asked about possible moves in January, he revealed that he had a meeting planned for today with recruiting bosses, and even mentioned a specific player who could be in the mix:

“We don't talk about names. At the moment we are not talking about players.

“I saw Behdad, with Paul and Laurence. I think tomorrow we're going to have a talk. We don't talk about names or players. For now we focus on players like Andrey Santos.”

It will be very interesting to see what they do with Santos. On the one hand, we are very scarce in the center of the field. On the other hand, there are players like Lesley Ugochukwu and Romeo Lavia eternally close to returning and blocking Santos' path, potentially turning six wasted months into a wasted season.
