Tottenham's new star will arrive early, but will not rush to be included in Ange Postecoglou's plans
Yang Min-hyeok will arrive at Tottenham a month before his scheduled transfer in January.
Spurs sealed a Korean K-League record £3.3million deal for the 18-year-old Gangwon winger in the summer.
Yang was expected to remain in Gangwon for the first half of the campaign before the planned move on January 1, but those plans have changed.
According football.london The South Korean will arrive earlier than initially planned to give him time to adapt at the north London club rather than being thrown straight into action.
Since confirming his move to the Premier League, Yang has scored an impressive 11 goals and registered six assists in 37 league appearances.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, who previously managed Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos, has reportedly been following Yang's performances at Gangwon, where the versatile star has been deployed on both flanks.
After signing for Tottenham, Yang told reporters: “First of all, joining such a big club is an honour. I will do my best to do my best. I don't think I am that young. And I am pursuing my dream”. It's a great challenge, I think I can show and demonstrate my talent.
“Joining a big club like Spurs means the club recognizes my abilities. I think if I do my best and work hard, I will automatically improve a lot.”
His eye-catching performances have earned him a single call-up to the South Korean team alongside his future Spurs teammate. Son Heung-min but he has not been part of the most recent squad.
And it seems the Spurs captain has already given the youngster a nickname ahead of the January move.
A viral clip from September showed Son putting an arm around Yang while referring to him as “Tottenham.”
Following the announcement of Yang's arrival in July, Son said: “He's incredible. He's doing a fantastic job in his first season in the K-League.
“I saw him yesterday for the first time, he was being very shy. He is obviously very young, he hasn't finished high school yet. How crazy is that? It seems like I'm getting old.
“I told him to also practice his English a bit so he would have time to practise. Yes, I'm looking forward to it, I'm incredibly talented, I'm looking forward to seeing him in the Spurs kit.”
Postecoglou said after Spurs completed the deal: “We are delighted to have him as part of the club, someone who was identified by our scouting department.
“A young and talented player and we are always looking not only for the present but also for the future. He has shown great promise and we hope to have him as part of the club, once he has finished his commitments with his club.”
Yang is one of the best players in the K-League this season and has won Player of the Month and Young Player of the Month on five separate occasions, four of them consecutively between April and July.
He already had the chance to prove himself to his new Tottenham teammates during a friendly match in Seoul in July.
Postecoglou is likely to resist the temptation to throw Yang into the mix despite Tottenham's current injury problems.
