Former Barcelona and Sevilla player Dani Alves remains out of jail after being convicted of rape, after posting bail in March. The Brazilian has appealed his sentence which was handed down earlier this year.

Alves was found guilty of rape at the end of December 2022 in a nightclub in Barcelona while playing for Pumas in Mexico, and despite initially claiming that he did not know the woman in question, he later claimed that the couple had consensual sex. This was not proven in court, and Alves was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, ordered to pay €150k in damages to the victim, and given a 9.5-year restraining order. He later paid €1 million in bail to be freed from the charges.

He continues to live on the outskirts of Barcelona in a property he already owns, and has started a new business, say. Sport. Alves started a new platform called Voxtom, aimed at organizing, sharing and creating events easily, whether it's a birthday party or a concert. The new site launched on Instagram, and appealed to influencers in Brazil, where the platform began, to help advertise and participate in its functions.
