'The world at his feet': Jadon Sancho points promising Chelsea talent towards stardom after breakthrough
Jadon Sancho has hailed Chelsea teenager Tyrique George as the club's next promising star following his first start for the Blues.
The 18-year-old winger was called up to the senior team after impressing at Under-21 level and could be the next young player from west London to make a splash.
George has made five first-team appearances since his promotion to the senior team, but made his first starting appearance against Noah in the Europa Conference League, in the Premier League side's shock 8-0 win.
Chelsea highlighted the milestone in their young star's career and, in response, Sancho posted on X: “Tyrique has the world at his feet, he is a great guy and such a humble human being.
“He deserves all the success that comes his way! See you at training on Monday brother.”
It was a coming full circle moment for George, as he and Sancho were photographed together when he was just a child.
The former Borussia Dortmund star added: “We will definitely recreate this image.”
George made his senior debut for Chelsea in the Conference League earlier this season against Swiss side Servette, coming off the bench.
“It was a surreal feeling, really,” the teenage ace said. “I couldn't really explain the feeling. Really excited.
“To be honest, when Enzo (Maresca) told me he would come on at like 60 (minutes), I didn't think it was going to happen.
“And then when he called me to tell me you were coming. Being here at the age of eight and then making my debut, it's really a dream come true. It felt really good.
“I don't like to put too much pressure on myself because then I start doing different things. Of course there is a bit of excitement, but also nerves.”
When asked about playing with Sancho, he responded: “It's crazy. Even like shaking his hand and stuff, when I know him from that photo.”
George is yet to appear in the Premier League, but has made seven appearances in Premier League 2 this season, managing one goal and four assists.
Last season he had even better statistics, with 14 goals and ten assists in 34 games in all competitions.
The versatile player has positioned himself as number 10, forward and winger on both sides.
He has also represented England from Under-16 to Under-19, where he made his debut in September this year against Italy.
Sancho knows what it feels like to be a young talent with high expectations placed on you.
He gained notoriety in the city of manchester academy, which followed him to Germany with Dortmund, where he eventually became a star.
One who was given a price tag of £73 million as manchester united got his signature in 2021.
