Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach may look to invest in their defence in the January transfer window, an area that still needs improvement.
The tabloid states that Gladbach have around €4m to spend in the winter as they used most of the money received from Manu Koné late move in the summer to plug financial holes left by COVID. Centre-back is the area that Gladbach could look to invest in.
In the summer, Gladbach tried to sign Kevin Diks from Copenhagen but it was too late for the deal to be completed before the end of the window. It is possible that Die Fohlen look into signing the left-sided centre-back once again as he should be cheaper than the previous €4m fee quoted by the Danish side in August as his contract at the club expires in the summer.
The new Indonesian international could move to the Bundesliga without Gladbach needing to rely on a departure. However, Gladbach are open to selling Ko Itakura if they receive an ‘immoral’ fee for the Japanese central defender.
