A winger seems as necessary for the Gunners as a striker with Bukayo Saka without real backing and suffering knocks this season, while Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have struggled for consistent form. That said, Raphinha would be an incredible option for Arsenal if they can reach a deal.
The profile that Arteta needs
Raphinha is capable of playing on both the left and right wing, and has developed brilliant finishing ability in recent months. The 27-year-old's confidence in front of goal is particularly impressive, and his defensive work rate also deserves a mention.
The fact that he has also excelled in the Premier League with Leeds United will be a huge factor for Arsenal, as Arteta will know that the Brazil international will not need any adaptation time if he returns to England.
A transfer for the South American star might not be a realistic proposition in the winter as Barcelona have him firmly in their plans, although things could change in Arsenal's favor in the summer.
Barca have had well-documented financial problems and could consider a £75m offer too good to refuse, despite Raphinha being one of the first names on the team sheet.
