Pep Guardiola's contract gives an important indication of Manchester City's expectations for 115 charges
Pep Guardiola's decision to extend his stay at Manchester City could be good news for them in more ways than one.
The City manager will sign a new one-year renewable contract, ending the enormous uncertainty over his future.
The contract extension does not have a termination clause, which implies that the club is confident of winning the battle with the Premier League.
City are under investigation for 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules during a nine-year period in which they won three league titles. They deny all charges against them.
As the new agreement does not include a termination clause in the event of relegation, Guardiola would have to resign and give up a portion of his salary.

The 53-year-old's contract extension came as a huge relief to City fans, particularly after the club turned their attention to Ruben Amorim as a replacement, who has since moved to their city rivals, manchester united.
The club has gone through a rough patch in recent weeks, losing four consecutive games in all competitions for the first time under Guardiola.
Added to this, the impending outcome of 115 charges for alleged violations of financial rules has taken its toll on the narrative around the treble-winning side.
Guardiola had previously signaled that he would stay at the club even if they were “relegated to League One”.
