Carlo Ancelotti is confident that Kylian Mbappe’s form will improve for Real Madrid.
Mbappe, 25, has scored eight goals in 15 appearances after joining the Spanish giants from Paris Saint-Germain last summer but he has often been deployed as a central striker, having previously excelled from the left in France.
This has raised questions about how best to fit him in the side, with Vinicius Junior having made Real Madrid’s left-wing position his own in recent seasons.
“I see him happy, calm, happy,” said Mbappe. “Kylian has never asked me for a position on the pitch. They all want to be in the XI. They don’t have a fixed position and can change depending on match situations.
“The bad patch passes; it happens to all great strikers. I see him motivated and happy to be with his teammates. His quality is enormous.
“He has worked with the others. I’m not going to teach him to play up front; he can teach me. I’m not going to teach him to play as a striker; he can teach me. Does Mbappe need defensive work? I don’t think so.”
Real Madrid are second in La Liga, six points behind league leaders Barcelona, who have played a game more.
Ancelotti’s side are next in action against Leganes on Sunday before facing Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.
