The directors of Liverpool and Real Madrid will have lunch on Merseyside ahead of their Champions League clash, and while it is fairly standard procedure for the outfits in Spain, the topic of their meeting will not be. The latest to come out of the Spanish capital is that they will discuss the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

According to Marcothey will try to clarify what the course of action will be with England right-back. The newspaper based in Madrid emphasizes ad nauseam that the relations between the two sides are excellent, and they say that Liverpool even picked up the phone in September to ask Real Madrid if they were chasing Alexander-Arnold, which they admitted.

With Alexander-Arnold settling for Liverpool and no progress on a contract renewal, the logical conclusion is that he will go elsewhere next summer. However, during their lunch, which will take place at 13:30, Real Madrid will try to establish whether an agreement in the January transfer window is possible – something that until now has been considered unlikely.
