Barcelona had a fairly relaxed night in the Champions League against Brest on Tuesday night, circulating the ball with ease in a calm 3-0 win. It was a very good night for Hansi Flick and his team, who returned to winning ways after a defeat at Real Sociedad and a draw at Celta Vigo, with one notable exception.
While Flick may be saved for Sunday against Las Palmas, as Marc Casado is out through suspension, Frenkie de Jong he was again on the bench of Montjuic. The Dutchman came on in the last five minutes for Pedri, who was given a standing ovation after a strong display. When de Jong arrived, however, a number of whistles were also heard. Sport opens the door to the idea that the faith he had from Hansi Flick could change, with Gavi coming back from injury.

Earlier this week it was reported that the Barcelona hierarchy were frustrated with his contributions to this point, feeling that he lacked the necessary aggressiveness and commitment. De Jong will be more than used to negative reports about him in the local media, but overall in his career at Barcelona he has had a starting place. It looks like he could have gotten away with it with things as they are.
